POP (Point of Purchase) displays represent an excellent addition to your product marketing strategy. If properly designed and positioned, custom POP displays can dramatically increase product sales and can enable you to outsell your competitors.
Here are 5 tips to help you design and set-up and exceptional POP Retail Display that sells like crazy.
1. Make sure your Understand your Audience
The first and most important aspect of creating a winning POP display is knowing what your audience prefers. If your audience is mothers with young children, you should create a different POP display than what works for a man who loves outdoor activities. If your audience is a harrier shopper who simply wants a quick snack, you should also create something unique.
Knowing who are you talking to will enable you to easily create graphics and use colors that resonate with them.
2. Be Bold when it Comes to Graphics & Message

The whole point of a custom POP display is to create something that stands out of the crowd. The composition of your display should be different than any other product on the shelf. You want to attract all glances and make sure people will buy your products.
Use bold colors that cater to your brand and to your audience liking. Make sure you make the price big enough and that you use at least a 20% off (or write something like “best price here”). If people who are regularly buying your products will notice that they come with a hefty discount, they’ll buy 10 times more. Even new customers will be attracted to the nice graphics, good discounts and bold messages, and will probably want to try you out.
3. Have a Unique Selling Proposition (USP)
A USP is what will help you stay out of the crowd. It includes all the factors that make your product better than those of your competitors. You want to have a powerful USP in order to attract customers over to your stand and convince them that you mean business. The USP should talk directly to the customers and should be focused on solving their needs.
4. Keep your Main Message at Eye Level
Researchers and experts proved that the most successful POP display stands keep the main message at the customers’ eye level. It all depends on how high your display is and of course how tall your customers are. If you are only targeting men, you should probably keep the message at around 5’8”. However, if you’re targeting kids of young women, the main message should lie at around 5’1”. Less important messages can be placed on the sides or below the main message.
5. Select the right POP Retail Display for you
Lastly, you want to ensure that you choose a POP retail display that goes along with your needs. Of course, this also depends on the space available in a store. You can choose from end caps display, aisle display, floor display, side wing, power wing, or counter display. Each one of these has its own benefits and drawbacks, so you should think carefully before choosing a certain type.
